South Australia is currently undergoing the biggest modernisation of its planning system in 20 years.
A modern planning system is fundamental for South Australia, as it will ensure our state remains liveable, prosperous and vibrant; and can meet the future demands of our great state.
The renewed planning system is underpinned by the new Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and introduces a raft of new tools and a 24/7 digital ePlanning system that will allow South Australians quick and easy access.
The new planning system is intended to provide many benefits including:
- Communities can better engage with the planning system via practical tools and easy-to-understand information.
- Simplified information to improve understanding of the planning system and encourage greater participation earlier in the planning process.
1 October 2019 marks the beginning of a length public consultation period for the Planning & Design Code.. This period will end on 28 February 2020 and submissions from the greater community and industry are sought. To get a high level understanding of the impacts of a new system, click here:
