The Eastern Health Authority is formed as a regional subsidiary. The Authority’s constituent councils comprise the City of Burnside, Campbelltown City Council, the City of Norwood Payneham St Peters, the City of Prospect and the Corporation of the Town of Walkerville. A combined population of over 150 000 residents is serviced. The Authority ensures that its constituent councils meet their legislative responsibilities which relate to environmental health and that are mandated in: Public and Environmental Health Act 1987 Food Act 2001 Supported Residential Facilities Act 1992
The member Councils of East Waste are Walkerville, Burnside, Norwood, Payneham and St Peters, Mitcham, Campbelltown, Adelaide Hills. The Charter specifies the roles and responsibilities of the authority. The principal activity of the authority is to collect and dispose of each Council’s garbage. Town of Walkerville is one of three member Councils of the ERA Water Regional Subsidiary. The other Councils are City of Burnside and Norwood, Payneham and St Peters. The purpose of ERA Water is for Aquifer Storage and Recovery (ASR) - a system of harvesting, cleaning and injecting the cleaned water into aquifers for later. This allows Council to capture, treat, store and deliver stormwater for irrigation purposes at a cheaper rate than purchasing water from SA Water. ERA Water became a subsidiary of the Town of Walkerville on 21 July 2015.
Good Sports is designed to help community sporting clubs manage the sale and consumption of alcohol safely and within the law. The program is not anti-alcohol and not about drying up sporting clubs, but rather a valuable resource to help clubs minimise risk and better understand your liquor licence.
The Town of Walkerville is one of three member Councils of the Highbury Landfill Authority. The other member Councils are: City of Burnside and Norwood, Payneham and St Peters. The Charter specifies the roles and responsibilities of the authority. The role of the Authority is to oversee and fund the rehabilitation of the Highbury Landfill site.
