Tree Replacement Schedule

Tree replacement, artificial turf and Section 221 applications

Tree replacement

The Town of Walkerville is passionate about planting and protecting street trees. Every street tree becomes part of what we call our ‘urban forest’ and increases canopy cover in this area. Our urban forest (public and private land) covers approximately 25% of the Township and we have about 28 different species which account for more than 4,000 street trees in the area.

Council has developed an Urban Forest Management Policy to ensure street tree management and replacement is done according to current practices and takes into consideration elements of tree species, infrastructure location and future development (urban infill).

The policy is in line with the Urban Forest Strategy.

Artificial turf

Artificial turf is not permitted on Council verges as per Council’s resolution on 15 February 2021. Please click here to view the Public Land and Encroachment Policy for more information.

Residents are reminded that any works (landscaping, driveways, stormwater outlets, etc) on public land require Council approval prior to works commencing to ensure works comply with required standards and provide a safe area for people to traverse.
