Volunteer as a Community Connector

Published 1st November 2024
Council is on the lookout for volunteers for a new Social Prescribing Project.

Volunteer as a Community Connector!

Town of Walkerville residents have the chance to be involved in a pilot program to reduce social isolation in our older community.

Volunteer as a Community Connector

Together with our partners, Council would love you to join a new Social Prescribing Project to make a positive impact and help improve wellbeing in our community.

Our project works alongside local GPs and other healthcare professionals to identify and connect older adults with community social programs.

As a volunteer Community Connector, you will work together with the participant to identify social opportunities that exist within the community for them to participate in. This approach is ‘human centered’ and will help alleviate loneliness, social isolation and provide more social connection within the community.

If you like talking to people, finding out what they enjoy doing and have some great creative skills to connect people with existing and thriving communities, then this is for you!

Come along to our information sessions where we dive deeper into the pilot program, explore the various roles and answer any questions.

  • When: Tuesday, 19 November 2024
  • Session one: 1pm - 2.30pm or Session two: 6pm - 7.30pm
  • Where: The Lights Community & Sports Centre, 244-270 East Parkway, Lightsview
  • Light refreshments will be provided
