The Freedom of Information Act 1991 came into effect on 1 January 1992. It extends to every person the right to:
(a) obtain access to information held by South Australian State and local government agencies and
(b) ensure that records held by government concerning the personal affairs of members of the public are not incomplete, incorrect, out of date or misleading.
