Town of Walkerville is establishing a design committee to assist in the upgrade of the Walkerville Sports Club building and adjacent car park.

Council is looking for community representatives to express their interest in being involved with the project by joining the Committee.

At the Ordinary Meeting on 19 February 2024, Council Members supported the creation of the ‘Walkerville Sports Club Design Committee’. The purpose of the Committee is to:

• work closely with Council’s Project Management Team, architect and building contractors to help guide the design direction and scope of the Walkerville Sports Club project;
• carefully consider the needs of all key stakeholder groups;
• provide regular communication with all key stakeholder groups to ensure design options/proposals meet the needs of stakeholder groups;
• ensure the cost of the renovation remains within Council’s approved budget; and
• provide advice to Council in relation to the design process/progress.

Mayor Melissa Jones and Cr James Williams have been appointed as Council's representatives on the Committee. There will also be three Sports Club representatives and one Walkerville Primary School representative.

To ensure there is community involvement and representation as part of the process, Council has created two ‘community member’ roles on the Committee.
