Assets & Infrastructure

The Assets & Infrastructure Team consists of six areas of responsibility, which are overseen by the Group Manager Assets & Infrastructure.

These areas of responsibility are:

  • project planning and delivery;
  • GIS and asset management;
  • transport management;
  • development engineering;
  • landscape design;
  • arboriculture and horticulture services;
  • urban and civil services;
  • assets and infrastructure administration;
  • community land management;
  • leases and licenses management; and
  • major projects.

The role of this portfolio is to plan, design and deliver quality open space, transport and stormwater infrastructure and maintain Council's existing assets to a high standard.

Resilient East

Resilient East is a long‑standing partnership between eastern Adelaide councils working together to strengthen our region’s resilience to a changing climate. By collaborating across council boundaries, the partnership can deliver larger‑scale projects, share knowledge and achieve a greater impact than any council could on its own.

RECAP front cover

The Resilient East region includes:

  • Adelaide Hills;
  • Burnside;
  • Campbelltown;
  • Norwood Payneham & St Peters;
  • Prospect;
  • Unley;
  • Walkerville; and
  • Green Adelaide as key partners.

Together, the partnership focuses on practical climate actions that protect community wellbeing, support local environments and reduce long‑term costs for councils.

Climate Action Plan 2026–2031

In August 2026, the Town of Walkerville received the Resilient East Climate Action Plan 2026–2031 - a five‑year roadmap that outlines how the region will respond to increasing climate risks such as extreme heat, infrastructure impacts, rising costs and declining green space.

The Plan identifies 24 high‑priority climate risks for eastern Adelaide and sets out six major regional projects, which help ensure our community, businesses and natural environments can adapt to hotter, drier and more extreme conditions.

Walkerville is proud to be part of this collaborative regional approach, working with neighbouring councils to deliver meaningful climate action.

Alongside our involvement in Resilient East, Walkerville continues to invest in local climate‑resilience initiatives. Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) plays an important role in cooling our streets, improving stormwater management and supporting healthier urban environments.
