Accessing social activities and events

As a Town of Walkerville resident you can access social activities and events to keep you connected with the community and broader metropolitan areas.

Social activities and transport services are funded through My Aged Care’s Commonwealth Home Support Program (known as CHSP). These services for residents of Town of Walkerville are arranged through the Prospect Community Support team at City of Prospect.

Social activities and events include:

  • Exercise classes (Chair based, gentle exercises)
  • Strength For Life classes
  • Aqua aerobic classes
  • Hotel lunch Groups
  • Friendship Groups
  • Men's Shed
  • Shopping experiences
  • Day trips and excursions
  • Movie outings
  • Live musical performances
  • Information sessions

Transport includes:

  • Four return trips per annum to specialist medical appointments. Taxi Vouchers (CabCharge) are provided with a limit of $30 per trip
  • A door-to-door bus service is also part of our Social Programs

In-home support

Please note that since 31 December 2022, Prospect Community Support no longer offers in-home services.

Residents who had previously received cleaning, gardening or home maintenance services had been successfully transitioned from 1 January 2023, to other service providers.

  • My Aged Care – 1800 200 422 (Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm, Saturday 10am to 2pm)
  • Your aged care assessor
  • Call Prospect Community Support on 08 8342 8091 to chat with one of the friendly team members, who can help you connect with the right person
