Christmas cheer returns to Walkerville Oval
While it was a wet one this year, it didn't dampen the festive spirit at the 2025 Walkervillage Christmas Fair.
On Sunday, 16 November 2025, the community travelled down to Walkerville Oval, where the much-loved Fair returned to its original home.
The event brought fun, excitement, laughter and community cheer to Walkerville.
Indigenous Elder Uncle Frank started with a Welcome to Country, followed by Mayor Melissa Jones opening the event.
Mayor Jones also announced the winners of the Mayor's Christmas Card Competition, with winners collecting the prize at the Fair.
The winners were:
- Richard, 11, from St Andrew's School;
- Ryan, 9, from Walkerville Primary School;
- Sara, 11, from Wilderness School; and
- Anna, of Vale Park, the Township winner.
Over the day, there were various market stalls to peruse and many food vendors to tantalise the taste buds, as well as a range of musical showcases and community stage activities to keep everyone entertained.
There were performances from local school choirs, including Walkerville Primary School and St Monica's Parish School, as well as musical interludes from the Enfield Brass Band and DJ Pulse.
The tree decorating competition was a thrilling watch, while the pavlova eating competition made the crowd both excited and queasy.
Attendees also got to watch live dance performances from Cheryl Bradley Dance Studios (CBDS), with the young performers displaying a mixture of Conga, ballet, and hip hop. Two students from the CBDS undertook a K-pop dance session with the crowd, with many children and parents learning a dance to a song from the movie, K-pop Demon Hunters.
Santa Claus' visit to the Fair was a true show-stopper, with children excitedly following him and his bell through the Fairgrounds. There were many photos to be had in Santa's Christmas tent.
The new courts at the Oval - part of the Walkerville Oval open space project - were also christened with community netball scratch matches, run by the Walkerville Netball Club. Hon Lucy Hood MP was the captain of one of these teams. Attendees battled it out on the new courts, no matter the downpour!
This year's Walkervillage Christmas Fair came to an end earlier than expected, however, it was great to see so many families brave the weather and enjoy the festivities on offer.
