Welcome our newest citizens!

On Friday, 21 March 2025, Mayor Melissa Jones conferred citizenship on 14 residents of Town of Walkerville.

These new citizens hailed from Hong Kong, India, Iran, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.

This event was held during Harmony Week, which is the perfect time for Australians of all backgrounds to come together and commemorate the importance of diversity and how it makes Australia such a unique and vibrant nation.

Mayor Jones said, "As we reflect on the importance of belonging, we can also think about what it means to be Australian. Citizenship is not just a legal status… it’s a bond that unites us all.

"As Australians, whether by birth or by choice, we share a commitment to the values of equality, respect and unity. We have the privilege to contribute to and grow within a society that values each and every one of us."
