Walkerville Oval Open Space Project

The Town of Walkerville has constructed brand-new outdoor sports infrastructure within the Walkerville Oval precinct as part of its long-standing commitment to improving the facilities within the popular community space. The project was completed in December 2025.

It includes

• four new oval light poles to meet AFL ‘local’ standards, enhancing game visibility while minimising light spill;
• an electronic scoreboard with video capabilities, enhancing the game-day experience and enabling movie nights run by Council – ensuring the space benefits the whole community;
• a new picnic and barbecue area;
• five full length cricket nets; and
• a multi-purpose court area with lighting, featuring two tennis courts, one netball court and one basketball court with retractable hoops.

To improve accessibility, a new self-locking and self-cleaning Exeloo public toilet has also been installed next to the Smith Street car park.

The Walkerville Oval open space redevelopment has been co-funded by the Government of South Australia’s Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Program.
