James Nenke

Mr James Nenke

James Nenke, Councillor for Town of Walkerville, has lived in the Township for eight years with his wife and three young boys.

He has over 20 years’ experience in Local Government, specifically in planning and asset management, as well as eight years of experience as an Elected Member at other Councils.

James is passionate about functional infrastructure, values the importance of the local RSL, and views the Walkerville Oval redevelopment and its connection to the Memorial Gardens as an important piece of community infrastructure.

He believes it is integral for the oval and 39 Smith Street projects to create economic development for Walkerville Terrace, which ensures the vibrant commercial precinct of the Township.

James’s focus while elected will be on Council’s Governance and Strategic Framework, to ensure an informed decision-making process that reflects Strategic Plan initiatives, risk and asset management, and community expectations.

Q&A with James

Q: What is your favourite part or place within the Township?
A: Linear Park and the Walkerville Oval – particularly the cricket nets.

Q: What is your key area of focus while on Council and what do you hope to achieve as part of this?
A: Asset management and informed decision-making. I want to support Administration to continue building on their practice of asset management and ensure the information reported is acknowledged by Council when developing our Long Term Financial Plan. All decision making should consider current and future demand factors, have alignment to existing strategic objectives, and understand risk and future lifecycle costs. I want to focus decision-making on service delivery and core Council business.
