Water Saving Tips


  • Take shorter showers (shower under 4 minutes)
  • Install a low-flow showerhead with a minimum 3 star rating
  • Turn the tap off while brushing your teeth
  • Install a duel flush toilet
  • Keep bath water to a minimum
  • Don't shave in the shower


  • Fill your dishwasher completely before running
  • Install aerators on taps to reduce water flow
  • Use the economy setting on your dishwasher
  • Wash fruit and vegetables in a plugged sink of water
  • Catch running water while waiting for it to heat (use this water to wash dishes, cook or to water plants)
  • Don't use water to thaw frozen foods


  • When purchasing a washing machine, choose a minimum 4.5 star rating
  • Only wash when there is a full load
  • Use a water saving cycle


  • Choose local native species or other water-wise plants
  • Mulch your garden regularly
  • Check outdoor taps, pipes and plumbing for leaks
  • Use a cover on your pool or spa
